Remarks | From his obituary in the New York Times, 17 Nov. 1874, page 5, column 7. "Rev. Fitch travelled in California, Oregon, Baja California and Hawaii from 1846 to 1852. After 1849 he was busy with church work, but from 1846 to 1849 he collected botanical specimens which he sent to John Torrey. After his return to New York, he wrote two articles "The shrubs, flowers and plants of California" and "Trees of California and Oregon" which were published in the Transactions of the American Institute of the City of New York in 1853." |
