The American participants included Peter Del Tredici of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, expedition leader Paul Meyer of the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, Kevin Conrad of the U.S. National Arboretum, and R. William Thomas of Longwood Gardens. Botanists Mao Cailiang and Hao Riming (郝日明), and assistants Lu Yi and Zang Qifa participated from the Nanjing Botanical Garden.
