Remarks[collector note: Mainly from Orizaba: B, BERN, BR, E, H, K, KIEL, L, LE, NY, O, P, US, W. Lichens: FH; "An Alsatian who went to Mexico in 1853, at the cost of Mr. Schlumberger of Mulhouse, and collected largely between Vera Cruz and Orizaba. It is supposed that he was murdered and concealed, as he disappeared and was never heard of afterwards. There is a good set of his plants in the Kew Herbarium." (Hemsley, 1884)]
