| Remarks | Extremely tall and slender species, old trees often towering far above the general level of the forest; trunk 25.5 m. in lenght, 22 m. diameter near base and 10 cm. diameter close below the leaves; many trees a great deal taller than this, crown rounded and composed of 16 fully developed leaves; rhachis and pinnae midribs on upperside yellowish; average leaf lamina 2.2 m., petiole 35 cm., sheathing base 75 cm.; 5 lateral panicles all in fruit, crowded close below leaves; fruit purple when ripe, prominently marked and slightly costate with 10-12 whitish longitudinal lines. |
