RemarksM. Ownbey cites Austin, 1876, as being the Type in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 27: 435. 1940. This cannot be taken as a lectotypification as there are two specimens of this collection in GH both marked Type by Ownbey. S. Watson only cites one collection directly in the protologue which is Hartweg 1986, considered by Ownbey to be intermediate in character between C. nudus and C. minimus.
