| Remarks | ["Utricularia pool is not in Concord. Thoreau refers to this only once in his Journal by name. On June 8, 1853 on his way to Well Meadow he notes finding the nest of a Maryland yellow-throat by Utricularia Pool in a tuft of sedge. The year before in his Journal on July 13, 1852 he describes the pool: 'The pool by Walden is now quite yellow with the common utricularia (vulgaris).' The only other reference to this is in his Journal on August 11, 1858 is clearest as to the location: 'Saw yesterday the Utricularia vulgaris, apparently in prime, yellowing those little pools in Lincoln at the town bound by Walden.' The direct reference of June 8, 1853 on his way to Well Meadow would pass near this area south of Walden." R. L. Angelo, 30 August 2018, in litt.] |
