| Remarks | "The original, to bear the name, must be the plant figd. in Bot. Reg. t. 1216. That is just L. argenteus Ag. [Agardh], non Pursh. The original wild plants of L. ornatus in Hb. Dougl. at Brit. Mus. = the wild, or one of the wild, L. ornatus Ag. In Lindl., same, the left hand specimens said to be H. H. G. 1828. In herb. Benth, the sp. cult & the sp. fruit [?] as wild, 1829. = both argenteus Ag. = true ornatus. As the the "vixillo sericio" of the wild specimen, it is when developed only a little bit so a spot each side of mid rib = this wild plant = L. sericeus Pursh, the much larger-fl.d form.
