Habitatin deep tall forest, Very humid but now (June) basically dry cloud forest on steep slopes inside of crater and upper slopes of volcanic cone (which is almost continually covered by a cloud, even now in dry season). Small-leaved, low sclerophyll forest on top of knife-edge rim surrounding crater, W of saddle and at saddle near where path crosses into the 1 km wide, 150 m deep crater. Ficus ssp., Bombacaceae, Cecropia; on ridge 4-8 m tall: Myrtaceae, Ternstroemia, Clusia and abundant Tillandsia (3 spp.) and other Bromeliads as epiphytes and on ground, a very common large-leaved Anthurium, Pharus, and 3 spp. of Peperomia
