Remarks1994 Annontations by P. M. Catling read "This material is referable to P. lacera [Platanthera lacera (Michx.) G. Don], but could be a result of backcrossing between P. lacera and P. Xandrewsii, based on the relatively broad lip segments, creamy flowers and position of some plants in discriminant analyses (near boundary of P. lacera). The plant on the right edge of the sheet is selected as LECTOTYPE for P. lacera var. terrae-novae Fernald [sic]. Fernald's concept based on P. Xandrewsii adn P. lacera hybrid continuum but holotype sheet referable to P. lacera.
