Remarks[In one of the last trips made by our distinguished friend the accredited botanist of the Forestry-Bureau, Mr. Regino GarcĂa, has discovered in Zamboanga and Cottabato a new forest species, which has been titled with the name of Cananga Aherneana, whose characters are the following: Alternate leaves about a foot long the largest are 4 inches wide; obliquely ovate, elongated, integral flush and hairless, and with a short petiole; axillary inflorescence in clusters 8 to 14 flowers; peduncles with two holes jellots and stipules on each flower; sepals three ovate, pointed, hairy; petals, 6 equal in length and pointed, shorter in length than the Kananga Odorata, Hook; beautiful, yellow-green full in its maturity; numerous stamens gathered together; cone-shaped anther with a tip as long as the carpels which are tight, bell-shaped, slimming and finishing the style in a ball; the fruit has not been seen. Large trees of this species, 30 to 40 meters high and 35 centimeters in diameter at the trunk, and very leafy, have been seen in Mindanao, and recently a branch has been received from Libutad, in the jurisdiction of Arayat, (Pampanga) submitted by Montes' assistant D. Manuel Martinez. We congratulate our dear friend D. Regino for the important discovery he has made.]
