Determination Remarks | [continuation] and the taxon represented in this envelope probably does not occur outside of Brazil, and definitely not in the West Indies. I therefore consider that Swartz should not be taken as the parenthetical author. [is filed under name] [is label name] [is Current name] |
Annotation Text | Original Material; nom. nud.; Baillon (Adansonia 4: 341. 1864.) cited Astrea divericata Klotzsch (Arch. Naturgesch. 7: 194. 1841.) and two specimens, this one and Sellow s. n. (B). Klotzsch (Arch. Naturgesch. 7: 194. 1841.) cited no specimens for A. divaricata, and I therefore interpret it as a nomen nudum. Swartz (Prodr. 100. 1788.) had previously described C. divaricatus Sw. from the West Indies, which has been taken as the bsionym of A. divaricata, but Klotzsch made no reference to Swartz, |
