Georeference48.355° N, 68.82° W WGS84 Method: Other
Locality RemarksComment on the georeference from Jean Gagnon: "The lable of Riddle says 'Ridge weset of Cap Caribou. Could it mean western part of cape Caribou or the other cape that is about 1 km west from Cape Caribou? Your [georeference] indicates Cap à l'Orignal (Moose hill) that is west of Cape Caribou. We would have to check with other collections from Riddle or Fernald or Collins for the same date (July 11, 1907). I found this, from a specimen of moss at Duke Catalog #: 125155 Taxon: Tortella tortuosa (Hedw.) Limpr. Collector: Collins, J. Franklin; Fernald, M L 4982 Date: 11 July 1907 Locality: Canada, Quebec, Rimouski Co., W of Cap Caribou, Baptiste Michaud's Bic. I think that Baptiste Michaud's farm was indeed at Cap à l'Orignal so your location would be good. Fernald and collaborators were quite good at naming sites when botanising in Québec. On the other end, there is a lichen specimen at U Minnesota that indicates cape Caribou Catalog #: 799393 Taxon: Mycobilimbia pilularis (Körber) Hafellner & Türk Collector: COLLINS, J 4985B Date: 11 July 1907 Locality: CANADA, QUEBEC, RIMOUSKI, CAPE CARIBOU Record Id: 994512d4-01c8-462d-8bbe-ec6d908be187 I agree with your location, and to be 100 % sure, one might want to check with Fernald's collections of vascular plants at GH. He collected a lot of specimens per day."
