Remarks:Though listed on the label as New Hampshire, Appledore Island is formally part of York County Maine (and was at this time). This is almost certainly a Farlow specimen, as he collected on Appledore in Sept. 1900. He undoubtedly stayed at the Thaxter house, Cecilia Thaxter (notable and famous in many ways) was the Roland Thaxter's mother. She died in 1894."
