Remarkspollinated by honeybees (beehives on property), forming many large dense drifts in many small to large (ca. 10 x 20 m.) patches. Introduced by me ca. 1975 from the Arnold Arboretum, remained a single plant for ca. 20 years before thoroughly naturalizing. Associates: Acer rubrum, Clethra alnifolia, Hamamelis, virginiana, Impatiens capensis.Sambucus nigra ssp.canadensis, Vaccinium corymbosum.
